Your first draft in BlueTip

• • 3 min read

Updated

Start with something you want to write: a paragraph to improve, notes for a newsletter, or a clear idea for a new piece.

Bring your own words

Open BlueTip and choose New document. In Bring a draft, paste your text. You can leave the title for later. Choose a writing style, use your default, or select No style. Then open the draft.

Your pasted words become the document. To start without text, choose Blank page instead.

Give suggestions a direction

Open Writing brief in the document header. Add the intended reader, purpose, important facts, language, and any length or format requirements. For example:

A short update for our book club. The next meeting is Saturday at 11 in the library. Bring one book to recommend. Use plain English and two short paragraphs.

The writing style controls tone and phrasing. You can choose or create a style from the document’s style selector, including instructions based on a sample of your own writing. Review those instructions before saving them. Put factual requirements in the brief.

Improve one passage

In Write, select a passage, or place the cursor in a paragraph. Try Polish passage for clarity and flow, or the shortening tool when the passage repeats itself.

Read the proposed text beside your original. You can edit the proposal or request a refinement before applying it. Check names, numbers, qualifications, and the tone you wanted. Use Undo if the change does not help.

For additions, open BlueTip AI and choose Develop this draft. Explain what is missing, review the editable suggestions, and add only the paragraphs you want.

Start from an idea instead

If you need a plan first, use Explore first when creating a document, or Start with a brief from an empty draft. Describe what you want to write and review the proposed plan. In Write, Draft from plan prepares a draft for you to review before accepting.

Brainstorm helps you organize ideas visually. Outline helps you arrange sections. You can return to either as the piece develops.

Review and export

In Review, choose the check that matches your question: correctness, clarity, structure, or argument. Writing Professor offers questions to work through; Reverse Outline shows what each paragraph contributes. Wording checks offers free phrase observations, with actions to find the passage or keep your wording.

You can also listen to the draft and invite feedback through the Feedback tab.

When you are ready, open Publish to prepare sharing text or export a Markdown, Word, or PDF file. Review the exported file, then use it in your publishing tool.

Open BlueTip and try one passage.
